Common issues to check when EGT temp data shows probe not functioning or intermittent data:
Please check the below common issues first.
-The insulation around the wires coming apart and contacting each other,
-The braided outer sheath touching one or both wires.
-The wires coming out of the terminal.
If you have a multimeter that has a temperature symbol selection, you can remove the wires, verify they are spread apart, and probe each one with the engine running to see if they are close in temp.
The probes are polarity sensitive so they will read differently when the wires are swapped.
Note: Do not touch the probe tips with your fingers while testing.
You may also check the resistance of each probe between the 2 wires and each wire to the braided sheath. If you measure resistance from a wire to the braided sheath, then bad wire insulation may be contacting the sheath or probe element is shorting to the sheath and is considered bad. Retake this measurement if you get resistance due to your fingers touching the probes.
